This Privacy Policy applies to Messages Home and all related messaging and launcher applications that link to this policy. In this policy, these applications are collectively called the "App."
INFORMATION PROCESSED BY THE APP
The App may process the following information to provide its core features:
- SMS and MMS messages, including message content, attachments, sender and recipient numbers, and timestamps.
- Contacts and contact names used to display conversations and select recipients.
- Phone, SIM, and subscription information required for SMS and MMS functionality.
- Notification information needed to notify users about messages and background operations.
- Installed application information required for launcher, app drawer, and app management features.
- User preferences, launcher layout, wallpaper settings, and scheduled message settings.
- Files selected by the user for local SMS backup and restore.
Message content, contacts, and local backup files are primarily processed and stored on the user's device. We do not intentionally upload, sell, or use message content or contacts for advertising or analytics.
DEFAULT SMS FUNCTIONALITY
The App requests SMS-related permissions only to operate as the device's default SMS application. These permissions allow the App to read, receive, send, organize, back up, and restore SMS messages; receive MMS messages; display conversations; schedule messages; provide widgets and quick replies; and show message notifications.
The App requests access through Android's default SMS selection flow. Users can change the default SMS application at any time through Android settings.
ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS
The App may display advertisements using Google Mobile Ads. Depending on user consent, device settings, and applicable law, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Google Mobile Ads may automatically process IP address and approximate general location, advertising and app identifiers, app and ad interactions, and device or diagnostic information for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention.
The App may use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to measure app use, diagnose crashes, and deliver app notifications. These services may process installation identifiers, device and app information, interactions, crash traces, and other technical diagnostics. We do not provide SMS content, MMS content, or contact information to advertising or analytics providers.
PERMISSIONS
The App may request permissions for SMS and MMS, contacts, phone state, notifications, network access, approximate location, foreground data synchronization, scheduled alarms, boot completion, device wake functions, legacy storage access, and package management. Each permission is used only for the related app or platform feature. Users may deny or revoke optional permissions through Android settings, although the associated feature may then be unavailable.
HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Information is used to:
- Provide SMS, MMS, launcher, backup, restore, notification, scheduling, and widget features.
- Save user settings and maintain the selected app experience.
- Display and measure advertisements when advertising is enabled.
- Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, maintain security, and improve reliability.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
DATA SHARING
Information may be shared only as needed with:
- Google Mobile Ads for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention.
- Firebase services for analytics, crash reporting, and notifications.
- Mobile carriers, recipients, and Android system services when users send or receive SMS or MMS messages.
- Service providers that process information on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Authorities or other parties when disclosure is required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, or security.
We do not sell personal information, message content, or contact information.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Messages, contacts, and app preferences remain on the device until the user deletes them, clears the App's data, or uninstalls the App. Local backup files remain in the location selected by the user until the user deletes them. Third-party service providers retain technical information according to their own retention policies.
USER CHOICES
Users can:
- Change the default SMS or Home application.
- Revoke permissions through Android settings.
- Delete messages and local backup files.
- Reset or delete the Android advertising ID.
- Review available advertising privacy choices inside the App.
- Clear app data or uninstall the App.
SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
Advertising, analytics, crash reporting, and notification providers may process technical information in countries other than the user's country, subject to their privacy and security practices and applicable law.
